Sonus Support
An engine sound driven by your own acceleration.
Getting started
- Mount the phone in a cradle with the screen facing you. Upright or flat both work.
- Pick an engine above the rev ring.
- Come to a stop, then hold IGNITION for half a second. Sonus records the mounting attitude during that first half second, so the car needs to be still.
- Drive. One tap on the key stops the sound.
Questions
- No car right now — can I still hear it?
- Yes. Tap "Manual" above the IGNITION key, start, and drive the sound with the four buttons.
- The sound arrives after the push.
- That is Bluetooth latency. Settings → Output & audio → Latency compensation runs the engine early to cancel it; 150–250 ms suits most car stereos. On a cable or CarPlay, set it to 0.
- Acceleration reads on the wrong axis.
- If the phone sits sideways or at an angle, gravity alone cannot tell where the car's nose is. Settings → Calibration → step 2: tap Start recording and accelerate in a straight line once.
- The speed is wrong, or the revs never settle.
- Allow location access. Without GPS the speed is integrated from acceleration alone, which cannot detect a steady cruise.
- I started from my Apple Watch and there is no Lock Screen card.
- iOS only lets an app open a Live Activity while it is in the foreground, so a watch-started drive cannot put one up. Open Sonus once and the card appears for the rest of the drive.
- I bought the unlock and changed phones.
- Settings → Purchase & restore → Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple ID. The unlock is a one-time purchase with no subscription.
- Does Sonus change anything about my car?
- No. It never connects to the vehicle. It only plays sound through whatever audio output you are using.
